24th July 2015 marked the day when Raay Foundation saw the launch of BJWHC’s Raay Centre for Children with Multiple Disabilities, which is located in Nowrosjee Wadia Maternity Hospital. The centre was established through a tripartite collaboration between Raay Foundation, Wadia Hospital and Muskan Foundation. Each party played a specific and important role successfully owing to which the centre was set up and is now fully functional.
The launch event was organized by our partners – Wadia Hospital and Muskan Foundation and it took place at the Wadia Hospital Auditorium. The Chief Guest was – Mr. Gajendra Kumar Patni – father of Mr. Amit Patni (Founder of Raay Foundation). Mr. Gajendra Kumar Patni is the Co-Founder of Patni Computer Services – the company that introduced computer hardware and software to India apart from housing and nurturing stalwarts like – Mr. Narayan Murthy and Mr. Nandan Nilekani.
Mr. Gajendra Kumar Patni accompanied by his wife Mrs. Rajini Patni and Mrs. Ruchi Patni (Mr. Amit Patni’s wife and Co-Founder of Raay Foundation) cut the ribbon and inaugurated the centre.
It was an emotional moment as Mr. Amit Patni mentioned in his speech – “Philanthropy runs in my genes and I have inherited it from my grandfather and my father…. I wanted to set up my own Foundation which would take the legacy forward and which I would be proud to hand over to my children and from them to my grand-children.” Mr. Gajendra Kumar Patni also acknowledged the efforts of his son and daughter-in-law in setting up Raay Foundation and launching the Raay Centre.
The proceedings ended with an apt statement made by Dr. Minnie Bodhanwala, CEO of Wadia Hospital – “A ray of light will shine and remove the darkness from children’s lives through Raay Foundation and bring smiles on their faces through Muskan Foundation.”
